L'actualité internationale : entre hiérarchie globale et stratégies éditoriales régionalisées

Abstract : This communication focuses on the hierarchy of States present in international news, hierarchy measured in two complementary ways: raw occurrences (number of times a State is mentioned in international news) and co-occurrences (number of times two or more States are mentioned together). Based on a corpus of 37 daily newspapers in English, Spanish and French, this study allows to simultaneously highlight both the invariants (omnipresence of US and some conflicting dyads) and some strong geographical specificities (neighbourhood effect). The RSS feeds of international news studied here appear as a proxy used to highlight the organizational logics of the contemporary world-system. If Internet networks are sometimes presented as an opportunity to diversify the information available to citizens, there is instead a strong homogeneity of content that has been confirmed by lexical analysis.
