History and archeology of Christian an Muslim medieval worlds

This unit is a joint lab associating the CNRS (National center of scientific research), Lyon 2 University, Lyon 3 University, EHESS (School of advanced studies in social sciences), ENS de Lyon (School of advanced studies in humanities) and Avignon University. It associates archeologists, historians, and literary specialists all focused on medieval times (5th to 15th century).Their work concern Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes area (in France), Christian and Muslim western Mediterranean Sea belt and Middle East.
It is divided in 6 main topics :
  • People, habitat and spatial organization
  • Knowledge, technologies and material culture
  • Power, administration and pragmatic writings
  • Religion, area, culture and communication
  • Genesis, structuring and traffic of writings and languages in medieval Romania
  • Money and trade
And 2 transverse topics:
  • Mil. Ord (Military Orders)Diccionary of Military orders
  • Nuova Cronica, Giovanni Villani chronicle's translation
