History and archeology of Christian an Muslim medieval worlds

This unit is a joint lab associating CNRS (National center of scientific research), University Lumière Lyon 2, University Jean Moulin Lyon 3, EHESS (School of advanced studies in social sciences), ENS-LSH (School of advanced studies in humanities) and University of Avignon. It associates archeologists, historians, and literary specialists all focused on medieval times (5th to 15th century).Their work concern Rhône-Alpes area (in France), Christian and Muslim western Mediterranean Sea belt and Middle East.
It is divided in 6 main topics :
  • People, habitat and spatial organization
  • Knowledge, technologies and material culture
  • Power, administration and pragmatic writings
  • Religion, area, culture and communication
  • Genesis, structuring and traffic of writings and languages in medieval Romania
  • Money and trade
And 2 transverse topics:
  • Mil. Ord (Military Orders)Diccionary of Military orders
  • Nuova Cronica, Giovanni Villani chronicle's translation
