Regional Schools of Instrument-Making in France: Their Representation in Public Collections

Abstract : Even if public collections of French musical instruments are mainly devoted to Paris, scholars pointed already during the 19th century the importance of some regional centers of instrument making. After archival research and field research, several regional museums were created to transmit this heritage.
