According to what the American artist Robert Smithson means by his use of the concept of entropy in the case of his analysis of the phenomenon of modern suburbs, the present discussion will explore his critique of the suburban landscape and the estheticism he developed in reaction to it. Through my use of the concept of negentropy, I try to demonstrate that our reflex of making sense by way of art in the context of every day life is an expression of the negentropic effect itself.
