The environment of South-mediterranean had been practicaly stable during the final Pleistocene and until today, only some animals had been extingued or destroyed. But the modifications of the human manifestations bas been important. After the Aterian complex with Levallois flakes, a great layer of cultures with microlithic assemblages had been developed. The Iberomaurusian is the most important and the oldest one. During its beginning little Levallois pieces and bladeleds have been used together. We know a lot about the population. It belongs to the Mechta el Arbi type and is a possible descendant from local populations. It was sedentary and subsisted on shells, fishes an small game. The dead were gathered in a part of the sites with difficult approaches.
