Pasolini entre Œdipe et Laïos

Résumé

The poetry of Pier Paolo Pasolini reveals a complex relationship to paternity which is reflected in the way the artist considers his own artistic filiation. Can we imagine that a link exists between the way the paternal figure is portrayed in the work, and the way this figure is represented in relation to the work ? Our hypothesis, naturally, is that such a link does exist. From a certain point onward, the artist begins to project himself into the paternal figure, he explicitly concerns himself not only with the figure of his father, but he wonders about his own capacity to be a father. Without a doubt, this is a major turning point in his work, when the reflection on paternity joins up with the poet’s further reflection, a continual one, on the history of poetry and language, and on his position regarding the former. In the heart of this reflection we find the will to substitute filial order for paternal order, and subversively place the son before the father.
