Since Antiquity, Lycophron has had an exemplary status in the canon of obscure authors. In order to lay the basis for a new study of "Lycophronic obscurity" - which is rooted in the history of the text's reception and transmission, but also matches the poetic occultation deliberately practiced by this author -, this paper offers a methodical list of the ancient testimonies, together with a translation and a commentary. The relevant passages are distributed into three sections: the first one gives an overview of the references and judgments found outside the Scholia to Lycophron; the second one contains the observations we can read in the latter corpus (comprising the ancient scholia and the commentaries written by John Tzetzes in the 12th century); the testimonies pertaining to the obscurity of the "Alexandra" are gathered in the third section. This inquiry advances our understanding of the modes of interpretation, the analytic categories and the terminology which were put to use; it also reveals that our sources have nothing to say on certain aspects of the poem.

Depuis l'Antiquité, Lycophron occupe une place exemplaire dans le canon des auteurs obscurs. Afin de jeter les bases d'une nouvelle étude de l'"obscurité lycophronienne" - qui est inscrite dans l'histoire de la réception et de la diffusion du texte, mais correspond à l'occultation poétique mise en œuvre par cet auteur -, cet article propose une liste raisonnée, une traduction et un commentaire des témoignages anciens. Ils sont présentés en trois sections : la première contient un aperçu des mentions et des jugements qui se trouvent hors des Scholies à Lycophron ; la deuxième est consacrée aux observations propres à ce corpus (composé des scholies anciennes et des commentaires rédigés par Jean Tzetzès au XIIe siècle) ; les témoignages relatifs à l'obscurité de son poème, l'"Alexandra", sont recueillis dans la troisième section. Cette enquête a pour résultat de nous fait connaître plus précisément les modes d'interprétation attestés, leurs catégories d'analyse et leur terminologie, ainsi que le silence de nos sources sur certains aspects du poème.
