What was "the daily life" in the decorated caves? To say it differently, what was going on around and in front of the decorated walls ? This question was present from the earliest beginning in the mind of the researchers in paleolithic art. Based on ethnological comparison at the beginning of the 20th century there came out different interpretations abandoned nowadays. (that are obsolete nowadays) With the better knowledge about the decorate walls and the discovery of new caves where the ground had not been violate the prehistorians succeed in reconstructing some sequences of events. Now there comes up the problem of the interpretative bound which means to ask the document more than it can give by its immediate observation. We here propose some ways of research.

Quelle était la « vie quotidienne » dans les grottes ornées ? Autrement dit, que se passait-il autour et devant le décor des parois ? Cette question est présente dès les origines de la recherche en art paléolithique. Basée sur le comparatisme ethnographique, elle a abouti au début du XXe siècle, à une série d'interprétations aujourd'hui tombées en désuétude. Avec la connaissance approfondie des parois et la découverte de grottes ornées au sol inviolé, les préhistoriens arrivent de nos jours à reconstituer des séquences d'événements. Se pose alors le problème du saut interprétatif qui consiste à solliciter le document au-delà de ce qu'il peut offrir par son observation immédiate. Nous proposons ici quelques pistes de recherches.
