Although the official discourse on sexuality is known, this is not often the case of the intimacy of the couples. The correspondance adressed to the Abbé Violet, a beacon of the new conjugal and natalist moralism in the interwar period permits to lift the veil on the sexual expectations and experiences of the most scrupulous catholics. They look very much like their more secular compatriots, wanted to bind spiritual and physical love and above all, desire to control their fertiliy at a moment when Rome hardened its position on the limitation of birth with the encyclical "Casti connubii".

La correspondance adressée à l'abbé Violet, un chef de file du nouveau moralisme et natalisme de 'entre-deux-guerresn permet d'entrer dans l'intimité des couples pratiquants. Comme leurs compatriotes, ils lient amour et amour physique. Ils souhaitent surtout concilier contrôle leur fécondité et préceptes religieux au moment où la position de Rome se raidit avec l'encyclique "casti connubbi"
